Founding Treasurer, Position Description

The Treasurer is elected by the association's active members. The Treasurer handles the fiscal needs of the association, and the founding Treasurer will serve a 10-month term.

Specific responsibilities of the founding Treasurer include:

  • Work with the board of directors to establish fiscally sound by-laws, policies, and procedures for the association
  • Work with the board of directors to establish an initial budget for the association
  • Work with the board of directors to establish initial financial goals for the association and a strategic plan for meeting those goals
  • Support the strategic plan as needed
  • Establish accounting best practices for the association and specific processes and tools the association can use to follow those practices
  • Serve as a member of the Fundraising Working Group
