Founding President, Position Description

The President serves as the senior volunteer leader of the HSTA Alumni Association. The President is elected by the association's active members, and the founding President will serve a 10-month term.

Specific responsibilities of the founding President include:

  • Lead all board meetings and association meetings
  • Lead the Board of Directors in establishing association by-laws and supporting policies and procedures
  • Lead the Board of Directors in establishing initial goals and plans for association meetings, activities, and events
  • Assist the Board of Directors in setting up a calendar of events for the first year of the association
  • Support the working groups' efforts to build membership, market the association to non-members, establish a budget, engage in fundraising, and organize activities 
  • Maintain lines of communication with the HSTA Liaison and the HSTA Joint Governing Board
  • Officially represent the HSTA Alumni Association as requested by the association or the Joint Governing Board
  • Serve as a member of the Communication Working Group
  • Implement a smooth transition between Year 1 and Year 2 of the association
  • Serve as Past President for one term immediately following Year 1
