Working Group Chairs, Position Descriptions

Working Group Chairs lead the activities associated with five functional areas essential for the health and operation of the association. Working Group Chairs are elected by the association's active members, with the exception of the Nominations and Elections Chair, and founding Chairs will serve a 10-month term.

Working Groups

  • The Chair of the Membership Working Group will help the Board of Directors establish and implement initial association membership and volunteer goals and plans. This person will work directly with the Secretary and Membership Working Group volunteers members. It is expected that volunteers for this working group will be recruited after the election of the board.
  • The Chair of the Communication Working Group will help the Board of Directors establish and implement initial goals and plans to improve communication between the association and HSTA alumni. This person will work directly with the secretary and Communication Working Group volunteer members. It is expected that volunteers for this working group will be recruited after the election of the board.
  • The President-Elect will serve as the Chair for the Nominations and Elections Working Group, so this is not an separately elected position. This Chair will help the Board of Directors revise the nomination and election material for Year 2 and ensure a smooth transition between boards in Year 2. This person will work closely with the Membership and Communication working groups as well as the Nomination and Election Working Group volunteer members. It is expected that volunteers for this working group will be recruited after the election of the board.
  • The Chair of the Awards and Scholarships Working Group will help the Board of Directors develop and implement initial plans for creating and maintaining awards and scholarships for the current HSTA Program, current HSTA students, and HSTA Alumni. This person will work directly with the Nominations and Elections and Communication working groups, as well as the Awards and Sholarships Working Group volunteer members. It is expected that volunteers for this working group will be recruited after the election of the board.
  • The Chair of the Fundraising Working Group will help the Board of Directors set and implement initial fundraising goals and plans. This person will work directly with the HSTA Budget Officer and Alumni Association Treasurer to ensure all policies and procedures for fundraising are followed. She or he will also work with the Fundraising Working Group volunteer members, whom it is expected will be recruited after the election of the board.
